As every year in November, the world-famous shopping period is in full swing. Cyber Week and Black Friday have spread from the USA to Europe – and so has Singles Day. Whether even more consumption is always the right choice remains debatable. But you can find some bargains in Munich tomorrow. Whether you’ re single or not, famous brands are offering discounts that are often less in demand than on the crowded Black Friday.
What is Singles Day?

Singles Day is one of the biggest shopping events in the world. It originated in China and is traditionally celebrated there on November 11. There is a very specific reason for this: the date with the four “ones” symbolizes singles. This day has established itself as a shopping event in German-speaking countries and marks the start of Cyber Week around Black Friday.
Anyone who is single should have the opportunity to give themselves a present on this day. Of course, everyone also has the chance to do this on all other days of the year. But discounts always attract enough people. The offers often range from 11% – in keeping with the date – to 70% on selected items. In Asia, November 11 is even the day with the highest sales of the year.
Hugendubel will be there
On November 11, for example, Lidl is offering a 25% discount on photo books, canvases and cushions in its online store. At Eventim, you can find bargains for the next concerts or musicals in Munich. And there are also various offers at Media Markt, Flaconi, Netto, Douglas and Sephora.
There is also a special local provider for Munich residents: Hugendubel is traditionally a participant in Singles Day. However, the company must adhere to the statutory fixed book prices. This means that Hugendubel and all other bookstores are not allowed to give a direct discount on these items.
The Singles Day discounts at Hugendubel therefore generally apply to the rest of the range, such as toys & board games, calendars, gifts and stationery . In recent years, Hugendubel has offered a 15% discount on the discountable range for Singles Day – something similar is expected this year. Check out the Munich shopping centers if you’re still looking for a gift for yourself or someone else – regardless of your relationship status.
