The whole soccer world will be looking to Munich on Saturday: On May 31, the Champions League final will take place in the Allianz Arena. From soccer to basketball, Munich is already known as a city of sport – and now our state capital is turning into a huge party. Even without a stadium ticket, there are many places in Munich where the game will be broadcast live. You can get in the mood for the Champions League final in Munich with special events.
Even though FC Bayern did not make it to the final, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and Inter Milan will make it exciting. The highlight of the weekend will of course take place in the Allianz Arena, but otherwise it’s worth visiting the Olympic Park and various squares in the city center. This brings a real Champions League atmosphere to the heart of the city.
The Champions Festival in the Olympic Park: the heart of the soccer party
For four days, from May 29 to June 1, the Champions Festival will take place in the Olympic Park and turn the area into a hotspot for soccer fans from Munich and all over the world – with free admission! The grand final will be broadcast on Saturday evening on a giant screen directly on the Olympic Lake. Up to 25,000 fans can cheer, celebrate and enjoy the unique atmosphere in the open air.
International DJs will also be performing on the lake stage, creating a real festival atmosphere – including Swedish House Mafia. Food trucks and drinks stands provide culinary delights, and there are special hands-on activities for children. And if you get bored in between, you can take part in various soccer challenges. Or even take a selfie with the real Champions League trophy!
On Friday, you can experience soccer legends up close at the “Ultimate Champions Legends Tournament” in the SAP Garden: Lothar Matthäus, Kaka and Luis Figo will be going full throttle in this small tournament to get the soccer atmosphere going. Four teams of former world stars and Champions League legends compete against each other.
