The songs not only help to tell the story, they also give us an insight into the dreams and desires of the characters. With songs like “If I Only Had a Brain”, we learn what Dorothy’s new friends wish for from the bottom of their hearts – and get a few laughs along the way.
This season, Candlelight rolls out the emerald green carpet and invites you to a 60-minute concert celebrating the unforgettable soundtrack from the classic movie. A talented string quartet brings titles such as “Over the Rainbow” and “We’re Off to See the Wizard” to life – surrounded by the flickering light of thousands of candles. Candles, classical music and unique movie magic – what more could you want? Warner Bros. Discovery Global Experiences and Candlelight have officially teamed up to bring the exclusive Wizard of Oz tribute concertto Munich and light up the Matthäuskirche in the glow of countless candles.
As always with Candlelight, the dress code is not strictly prescribed – but if you want, you are very welcome to adapt your outfit to the movie theme and get your best ruby red shoes out of the closet! The show lasts 60 minutes and admission starts 45 minutes before the concert begins. Late entry will not be permitted and seats will be allocated freely within the individual categories – so it’s worth arriving early.
