Bad Griesbach im Rottal has been a climatic health resort since 1973 and has been officially entitled to use the title “Bad” since 2000. This Lower Bavarian municipality near Passau owes this distinction to its three thermal springs: Nikolaus, Marie, and Karl. At a depth of 1,522 meters and with a water temperature of up to 60°C, the Nikolaus spring is the deepest and warmest of the three. The Bad Griesbach thermal baths are primarily fed by this spring, which supplies them with the so-called “liquid gold” of the Rottal.

The Bad Griesbach Thermal Spa features a total of 17 pools, with temperatures ranging from a cool 18°C to a very warm 38°C .
